The pivotal event offers National Olympic Committees (NOCs) that have not yet secured their spot at the Olympic Qualification Event 2025 or the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games the final chance to advance.
This event will feature men’s and women’s competitions — there is no Pre-Olympic Qualification Event for mixed doubles.
The top three NOCs from this event will qualify for the Olympic Qualification Event 2025, set to be held at Kelowna Curling Club, Kelowna, Canada in December.
Located in the north-east of Scotland, Aberdeen is the country’s third most populous city, and home to Curl Aberdeen. The facility opened in 2005 and has a six-sheet rink, as well as a range of function suites.
Over the years, Curl Aberdeen has hosted numerous World Curling events, including the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships in 2009 and 2023, the World Junior Curling Championships in 2018, the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in 2021 and the World Mixed Curling Championships in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Eeva Roethlisberger, World Curling Head of Competitions, said, “We are looking forward to returning to Aberdeen for another World Curling event.
“Curl Aberdeen has a strong track record of hosting top-tier curling events, and with Olympic Qualification Event 2025 spots on the line, this promises to be a truly exciting event!”
Tom Brewster, Curl Aberdeen Manager and 2014 Olympic silver medallist, said, “We’re thrilled to welcome another major tournament to Curl Aberdeen.
“The Pre-Olympic Qualification Event 2025 is a crucial step for athletes pursuing their Olympic dreams, and we’re honoured to be a part of that journey.”
